Want to Improve Your Website’s SEO?
A simple but powerful way to boost your site’s visibility on Google is by adding unique Titles and Captions to your image pages. This helps search engines understand your content and encourages more clicks when your pages appear in search results.
Here’s how to get started:
🖼 Step 1: Open Your Media Library
-
Log into your PhotoFolio account and go to your MEDIA LIBRARY.
-
Click the three-line list icon in the top-right corner to switch to list view.
This makes it easier to see and edit Titles and Captions for all your images. -
Double-click each image to open its settings and update the Title field.
✍️ How to Write a Strong Title
-
Write in sentence form, aiming for about 55 characters.
-
Be descriptive and specific about the image (avoid generic titles like “Photo 1” or “Wedding”).
-
You can include your name or photo type (e.g., “by Sarah Smith”), but start with the unique subject of the image.
-
These Titles appear in the browser tab and also act as Alt Text, which improves SEO and accessibility.
✅ Example:
Poor: DSC_2041
Better: Couple on Beach
Best: Sunset Engagement Shoot in Destin FL by Sarah Smith
Note: Updating the Title does not affect your image’s page URL.
🗒 Step 2: Add Captions (Optional, But Helpful)
Captions aren’t required but can provide additional keywords or context that supports SEO.
-
Write in natural language — short descriptions or keywords are fine.
-
Captions may appear visually on the page, depending on your design settings.
⚙️ Step 3: Check Your SEO Settings
To make sure your custom Titles are used correctly:
-
Go to ACCOUNT > SEO Settings
-
Set Global Browser Title to OFF
-
Set Advanced SEO to ON
🔁 Step 4: Submit Your Sitemap to Google
Once you’ve updated your Titles and SEO settings, submit your sitemap to Google so it can reindex your content.

💡 Bonus Tips
-
Think like a searcher. What would someone type into Google to find this photo? Use that language naturally in your Title.
-
No code needed. Just type clear text directly into your PhotoFolio account — no HTML required.
-
Be patient. Google may take a few days to a few weeks to reflect changes in search results.
