Design X · Images, Video & Mobile
Choose MP4 or Vimeo, then set playback and poster behavior for desktop and mobile.
Use H.264 MP4 for direct uploads or Vimeo for hosted playback. Autoplay, looping, sound, and thumbnail behavior still need to be tested on mobile browsers.
Add a direct MP4
- Export H.264 video in an MP4 container.
- Enable Web Optimized or fast-start playback.
- Open MEDIA LIBRARY and use the MP4/video upload option.
- Add the video to the intended gallery.
- Add a custom thumbnail when a specific poster image is required.
Add a Vimeo video
- Upload and test the video in Vimeo.
- Allow public or domain-approved playback.
- Copy the Vimeo ID or URL.
- Use the Vimeo add option in Media Library and add a custom thumbnail if needed.
Autoplay, looping, and sound
- Open the video item or gallery settings in MEDIA LIBRARY and enable the supported autoplay or looping behavior.
- Use DESIGNS → Desktop / Tablet / Mobile Layout → Image & Video for site-wide display behavior.
- Browsers commonly require autoplay video to start muted. A visitor may need to tap before sound plays.
- Always test iPhone, Android, Safari, and Chrome behavior rather than assuming desktop playback will match mobile.
Custom poster thumbnails
Open the video in Media Library and add a custom thumbnail when the gallery shows a generic video tile or the first video frame is not suitable. This changes the poster image without re-encoding the video.
Export guidance
- Use 720p or 1080p when appropriate for the layout.
- Use AAC stereo audio when the video includes sound.
- Keep the web file as small as practical while preserving quality.
- Test playback on a cellular connection.
